Leave A Copy Of Messages On The Server

If you want to view your emails from more than one PC or device, for example at home and work, or a desktop and a smartphone/blackberry device, you will need to set your Outlook account to leave a copy on the server.

To leave a copy of mail on the server follow the guidlines below:

1. Open Microsoft Outlook

2. From the Tools menu, click E-Mail Accounts, or Accounts and then next

3. You will either be presented with View/Change existing accounts in which case click Next or a list of accounts currently setup. Select the account you wish to edit, you will probably only have the one account

Click on the Change/Properties button

Now click on the More settings/Settings button, if this button is not present click on the Advanced tab

Click on Advanced if using the previous route...you can now find the option located at the bottom of the dialog box, this is enabled through the check boxes.

To do this in Outlook Express, follow the below...

Open Outlook Express

From the Tools menu click Accounts

Click on the Mail tab and go to Properties

Now click on the Advanced tab

You can now set this here

Warning!!

Do not leave a copy on the sever for too long or your mailbox may become full and you will not be able to connect to it to download your mail. I recommend to leave a copy on the server for no longer than seven days.
