How To Enable SMTP Verification

 

If when you send an email you get a returned error message stating..

550 5.7.1 ... Relaying denied. Proper authentication required.

This usually indicates smtp verification is not enabled which is authorisation for you to relay through the mail server. To enable this in Outlook 2003 follow the below..

1. Open Outlook 2003
2. Go to Tools -> Email Accounts
3. Now select. View or Change existing Email accounts, then choose Change on the appropriate account.
4 .Select More Settings and then Outgoing Server.
5. Put a tick in the box My outgoing mail server requires authentication and then check the Use same settings as incoming mail server box.

 

Using Outlook 2007?

1. Open Outlook 2007
2. Select Tools > Account Settings and choose the E-Mail tab.
3. Select the appropriate account by clicking it once, then choose the change button. Click the more settings tab then outgoing server .
4. Put a tick in the My Server requires authentication box.
5. In the Settings button, ensure that Use same settings as my incoming server is ticked. Click OK until you are back on the normal Outlook screen and you should now be able to send and receive without a problem.

You should now be able to send your email!
